History:

Artifacts and structure suggest sport in china as early 2000 BC. Gymnastics appears to have been popular in China’s ancient past. Monuments to the Pharaohs indicate that a number of sports, including swimming and fishing, were well-developed and regulated several thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt. Other Egyptian sports included javelin throwing, high jump, and wrestling. Ancient Persian sports such as the traditional Iranian martial Art of Zoorkhaneh had a close connection to warfare skills.

Sports have been increasingly organised and regulated from the time of the ancient Olympics up to the present century. Industrialisation has brought increased leisure time, letting people attend and follow spectator sports and participate in athletic activities. These trends continued with the advent of mass media and global communication. Professionalism became prevalent, further adding to the increase in sport’s popularity, as sports fans followed the exploits of professional athletes all while enjoying the exercise and competition associated with amateur participation in sports. Since the turn of the 21st century, there has been increasing debate about whether transgender sports people should be able to participate in sport events that conform with their post-transition gender identity.

Sports and Games

“Sports and games are essential for life and also a part of education.”

In past, sports were regarded as outdoor recreational pastimes such as fishing, hunting and shooting. On the other hand, games were the organised contents played by individuals or teams. But distinction between these two teams disappeared with the passage of time. Now both terms are often used interchangeably. Games are common to all countries and cultures.
As it is said,

“Cultures of different countries are differ from one another but games are same to be all of them.”

Sports and games have cardinal importance in physical and recreational activities of life. People play games either to have fun or to develop their mental or physical skills.
As it is said,

“Sports increase the moral and social values of life.”

Their worth has been recognised at international level. In educational institutions, they have been declared a part of curricula.
It is says that,

“Games are as important in schools as the books are.”

Some bookworms give no importance to sports. They are always absorbed in their studies. Then ultimately they lose their mental and physical health. They should know that there is no substitution for health.

“If there is no adversity health is wealth.”

Sports are very necessary for their studies. As the HOLY QURAN says,

“A sound body has a sound mind.”

Sports and games have many advantages. They are very essential to be successful in life. If a man works all the time and gives no importance to sport and games, he cannot be successful in life.
It is says that,

“Sports and games are preserved of success.”

Moreover,

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

Sports and games are very important for our health. Games like football, hockey and cricket keep our joints maintained.

Football by chance
Tennis by dance.”

Our blood pressure remains at constant level, and we become healthy. So, we can “live” not “exist”.

“The first wealth is health.”

Games makes us hardworking, practical and disciplined. They teach us that if we want victory, we have to work, work and work.
Because,

“The more you swept in practice the less you bleed in battle.”

The youth of today want to assert themselves. They want some outlet to present their unrivalled facilities. Sports and games provide them with plenty of such opportunities. If these chances are not given to them, they may fall a prey to criminal activities. So, indirectly sports contribute a lot towards making our youth decent and upright. As a result people undertake beneficial pursuits.
It is says that,

“The ideal of a good and perfect life is to have a sound mind in a sound body.”

Players obey the order of their captain and the umpire without any question. They have training in getting the defeat with a good heart.
They have given the lesson,

“You can learn little lesson from victory, but you can learn everything from defeat.”

Games also teach us discipline. People learn to obey and uphold laws. Games promote team spirit in players. They keep them united. They forget their tiny differences and fight for a common cause. They learn to cooperate. They show an infinite patience in their doings.
But!

“Excess of everything is harmful.”

There is a dark side of this picture also. Games may cause certain harms. Sometime the players do ignore the rules of decency for their own victory. They aim to win by hook or crook. They practice illegal and immoral tricks to this end. Second, too much interest in games may spoil some intelligent students. They may ignore their studies to become a good athletes. In this way, they become neither good students nor good athletes.
But!

“Advantages are more than disadvantages.”

One thing must be kept in mind that the spirit of games is not to win only. Games also teach us to practice patience, tolerance, honesty, dignity and other moral values.
